ABOUT MY ART
For me art is a wonderful expression of beauty and I truly appreciate it. I have always been drawn to spending time surrounded by nature, its beauty continually inspires me everywhere, even in the most simple things. My deep desire is to be able to create beauty with my work and light up the World through my creativity.
I fell in love with painting because it gives me an amazing feeling of freedom, pure joy and bliss. Creating art has become my treasured sanctuary that I can enter any time I desire. Painting lets me have access to a wonderful state of flow where everything ceases to exist the moment I start immersing myself in the art of creation. My mind gets switched off and my heart and soul take over, peace and bliss replace the chatter of my mind and it gives way to everything pure inside me to emerge. My desire is that these beautiful uplifting emotion are conveyed by my art.
MY INSPIRATION
I am very blessed to be able to call two stunning places my home; Mallorca in the Mediterranean and Cascais in Portugal, right by the shores of the Atlantic. I get my inspiration from my experiences of living by the calm and crystal-clear, turquoise waters of the Mediterranean and by the Atlantic where I often walk along the rugged, unspoilt coastline witnessing the vast, powerful and sheer strength of the Ocean.
My experiences of these contrasting shorelines, Atlantic and Mediterranean, especially during the Covid lockdowns, had an enormous impact on me and created a profound love for both majestic and inspiring environments. These waters’ ever-changing colours, their placid state and dynamic movements are reflected in my ocean themed works.
The experiences of my meditative practice is another source of inspiration for my work. In these artwork the spiral shapes represent a connectivity with the divine, spiraling from the outer ego into the inner soul. The spiral represents evolution and growth of the spirit. It signifies change and development, it is interconnected and stemming from the source of all creation.
The circular shapes in my art represent oneness, wholeness, unity, entity, infinity, life without beginning or end and balance. The middle point stands for the base or heart of all energy, our Creator, in other words God or the Universe. With these artwork my aim is to convey the elevating feelings of unconditional and limitless love, bliss, peace and the overwhelmingly beautiful feeling of Oneness.
MY CREATIVE PROCESS
I am a self taught, abstract artist using mixed media. My art journey turned into my business when I decided to create artwork for our new holiday home in Mallorca. I fell in love with creating abstract paintings and to this day I love this form of art process. I am fascinated by experimenting with new art techniques and brand new materials resulting in my art style continually evolving. My very first paintings were created using mainly acrylic paints but now in my creative process I incorporate pigments, alcohol and acrylic inks as well as spray paints and various kinds of materials creating highly textured 3-D effects such as texture pastes, sand, coffee and salt.
